I took this photo in my Idaho garden shortly before moving to Texas last summer. This sunflower had bloomed just that morning. I knew I was moving soon, so I checked my garden for progress every morning - wanting to get as much out of it as I could before abandoning it.

I took this photo in Cuenca, Ecuador, during a parade. It was between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The parade seemed very unofficial, with many DIY decorations strung on rusty cars. Kids sat on top of cars and threw candy. People of all ages scrambled for the candy.
I took this misty blue photo at a park near my house. I try to get out and take photos at dawn about once a week. When I am feeling lazy I stay close to home. Often, it is too overcast to see the sunrise, so I try to make the best of it.
I went to a nearby park on Friday morning. All the parks around Houston seem to be teeming with Golden Silk spiders - so no matter where I go, I always end up with several spider shots.
The Birds of Prey National Conservation Area is a short drive south of Boise, Idaho. It has the highest concentration of nesting raptors in North America. Here I took a picture of the Snake River in November 2007.
I took more family photos, and less nature photos, this past month. The baby is due in only two more months!
